The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian Government-Sponsored Public Service Programme implemented by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in 1969, during the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation. It provides opportunity to the student youth of colleges to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.

The Govt. College Sainj (Kullu) NSS unit was founded in the year 2017, and it has a Half NSS unit. Every year, more than 50 volunteers enrol themselves in this unit to practise and experience the best social activities for the welfare of our community.
