The Department of History came into existence in Govt. Degree College Sainj initially along with the establishment of the college in 2016. History is the subject which helps students to understand about the immemorial History, Society, Culture, political, economic, religious changes and successive development of human beings in the past. To that end, the department offers various courses that explores past and contemporary societies and their people. Further, College offered History as one of the Main Subject and attracts a large number of students always.
The Department is offering BA (Pass Course) under “CBCS”. The Programme consists of Discipline Specific Core (DSC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) and Generic Elective Courses (GE).

The History Department aims to make the students aware of the past and its legacies through teaching, research and extension activities in Indian history in the context of world history. We believe that only a critical understanding of the past will enable the students to understand the present and help them look towards the future.
